Karmic Ethnicity

It is so easy to get attached to certain ideas, thoughts and things, and then claim them as our own. Being of African descent, I easily claimed slavery as my history and, more importantly, as my experience. I claimed that I had been ravaged by the atrocities of slavery and, as evidence, that victimization is still occurring today in the form of racism and prejudice.

Yesterday, I got a new idea. I know that I am eternal. I know that my soul is always evolving. I now know that it is possible that, in previous lives, I could have been something other than a male of African descent. Is it possible that my relationship with slavery was one of being a slave trader? Is it possible that, in order for my soul to expand and evolve, it needs to experience the ravages of slavery today in order to release the energy of previous incarnations?

Is it possible that the souls of today's oppressors are the souls of yesteryear's slaves?

I recognize that, to fully heal, it is imperative for me to consider all aspects of slavery and, more importantly, embrace it all. In order to release attachments, I have to develop a new understanding, a new belief, about the importance of those attachments. In order for me to break my agreement with societal racist contagion, I must forgive and embrace myself for whatever role my soul played in slavery. Yes, prejudice and racism occur. How I respond to the experience of it can provide healing for not only my soul but also the souls of enslavers and slaves.

Affirmation:

I am the healing balm in all situations. The god within me recognizes and embraces the God within every person I see. I release my attachment to my history and allow divine ideas to become my experience.
